Diabulus In Musica - Argia (2014)
Symphonic power/gothic metal from Spain, latest full-length album released in 2014.
Diabulus In Musica is a symphonic metal band that perfectly mixes the passion of classical music with the most heartbreaking and modern metal.
In 2010 Diabulus in MusicaÂ?s debut album Â?SecretsÂ? was released. It was distributed worldwide under the well-known international label Metalblade Records. This album placed the band up in the highest position of the genre, receiving many awards, nominations and great reviews from the specialized medias.
Despite it being the first studio work for Diabulus in Musica, the production of Â?SecretsÂ? had a prestigious technical team, made up of greatest professionals such as Sascha Paeth or Ad Sluijter (ex Epica). Also, members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, RTVE Orchestra, Spanish National Choir and the Ensemble Â?Nova LuxÂ?, collaborated in the recording of Â?SecretsÂ?.
Diabulus in Musica has just recorded their second album, entitled Â?The WandererÂ?, which is foreseen to be released in early 2012 under Napalm Records. It is a conceptual album, direct and really promising, where Diabulus in Musica is working again with great and well-known professionals such as Jacob Hansen, Stefan Heilemann or Mark Jansen among others.
Diabulus in Musica has played many gigs so far. They have supported Manowar in their Spanish tour and Theatre of Tragedy in their farewell tour in Mexico. The band has also shared stage with bands like Arch Enemy, Cradle of Filth, Doro, Therion, Kreator, Rage, Saxon, Epica, Sabaton and many more.
After the great success achieved at the Metal Female Voices Fest (MFVF 8, Belgium) last year, Diabulus in Musica was booked to play again at the MFVF 9, this time as co-headliners. In that occasion, the band had the opportunity to release their very first videoclip and single Â?Sceneries of HopeÂ? (The Wanderer), in front of more than 4000 people. The video was also included in the official Metal Female Voices Fest DVD.
It is worth highlighting the welcome that Diabulus in Musica received among their fans. Only a year after the release of Secrets, four fanclubs have been created: Â?Secret ClubÂ? (Costa Rica), Â?The Seventh GateÂ? (Mexico), Â?Diabulus in ReinaissanceÂ? (Southamerica) and Â?Los Secretos del DiabloÂ? (Spain).

With basically a brand new band joining founding members Zuberoa Aznárez and Gorka Elso, DIABULUS IN MUSICA have risen from the ashes of a broken band with a new and improved sound and focus on their new album Argia. Passionate words sung by the powerful voice of Zuberoa matched together with the intrinsic and thunderous work by the instruments bring the band into a new stratosphere of creativity.
From the very beginning of the first track, the dark power of GoarkaÂ?s keyboards and the soaring spiritual vocalizations echoing from the heavens have your hair standing on end waiting for the coming rush of orchestral Metal. They do not disappoint as the group slowly build the volume and sound and thrust you into the choir hall full of echoes. The band then hits the gas and you are shot into the outer realms with Â?From The EmbersÂ? as the guitars and drums come at you rapidly and aggressively. Two tracks and you now feel the full force of just what this band can do. Atmospheric symphonic aggression coupled with angelic vocals and joined in by some dark deep growls. When it suits them, this band can match power and anger with anyone in metal.
The group invited Ailyn Gimenez of SIRENIA in the bandÂ?s first Spanish language Metal song titled Â?Furia de LibertadÂ? which has long been requested by Latin American and Spanish fans alike. The duets are exquisite with the sweet sounds of Ailyn and the deeper tones of Zuberoa taking the listener on a journey of incredible sound. The albums most aggressive song, which was written in anger aimed at someone they know, is Â?Spoilt VampireÂ? which comes at you with fire and fury. The band does not believe in actual violence as she told me recently in an interview, but she had to get it out and she does in this song.
They follow that song with the most beautiful Symphonic Metal song I have heard in recent memory called Â?Eternal BreezeÂ? which is wonderfully crafted and should be in a movie soundtrack. Amazing song. That song is followed by another power tune called Â?Mechanical EthosÂ? that once again shows off the speed and power the group possess with some fast riff work, drums, and wild sounds coming from GorkaÂ?s keys.
The group has another guest on the song Encounter at Chronos that features Thomas Vikström of CANDLEMASS and STORMWIND fame. Its a song that covers a lot of sounds born on the solar winds and joined by the power of the radiating sun, this one is a classic.
All in all, Â?ArgiaÂ? may just be the best Symphonic Metal album of the year.
